Mechanical cards - Neil

Hi,
Here's our 3rd card for our mechanical week: secret panel card with Neil.
Remember that you can download the PDF with instructions for this week's cards and more.

I started out with plain white card and followed the instructions to create all the pieces needed just to make sure they would work. My plan was originally to then make another card using patterned card but I decided to play a bit with inks instead and I'm glad I did as I love the result.

It's very simple I used both the negative and positive shoal masks and Dylusions inks (Two blues and an orange) and just let rip; spraying, blotting and flipping. For this card you need to colour both sides of all the pieces so I did that, and by just varying the amounts of the colours achieved different colour tones. I edged everything with Tea Dye Distress ink too before assembling the card.

I edged the opening sides of the card with Die cut lace coloured with Tea Dye ink and used two Tattered Flowers fastened with brads to hold it closed. I left them white as I thought looked great against the blues.
Inside the first section I just wrote a "hint" and when the recipient discovers the rest there is the heart (Which says it all!)
Though obviously, any message can be tailored to the recipient.

One important thing to note though is that if you use a die cut shape that goes outside the lines you will need to cut the die and fasten each piece onto the different sections as you can't go over your cut lines (If you still want your secret panel to open LOL)

Dylusions inks - Blues and Orange
Distress ink - Tea Dye

Mechanical cards - Karen

Hello,
Easter is just around the corner, and it's not too late to make a card. This invitation card could also be used as one to give a gift card me think.
Now I have the step by step pictures from Kathy herself, which I will post first and then you can see Karen's beautiful Easter card. I'm sure any kiddo would love to receive this...

Kathy's step by step first...

Step one

Using your 12 x 12 sheet of double-sided, patterned paper,
score/fold your paper in thirds vertically

Step two

Turn your paper over and fold in the corners on the top to the
first score line

Step three

Turn your paper back over again so that the corner folds are
at the back and fold up the bottom about 1 ½ inches

Step four

Apply double-sided tape to the bottom of the middle and right
side of the folded flap and fold over right to left

Step five
On the left side flap, fold in about 1 inch and glue down.

Now for Karen's Easter sample...

Materials
Poppystamps Die - Grand Egg

Mechanical cards - Gio

Hi,
Day two for our mechanical cards week with Gio and a beautiful vintage Double Twisted easel card.
Once again, you can download the PDF instructions HERE

I cut a piece of cream cardstock to size (mine is 21 x 21 cm) and I covered with Claudine Hellmuth gesso. I cut it and folded as in the 'INTERACTIVE CARD INSTRUCTIONS' by Cathy Byrne.
I sprayed using with Cosmic Shimmer Vintage misters: Egyptian blue and Dylusions ink spray: Melted chocolate through the Crafters Workshop - Gears stencil. When dry, I stamped randomly using Oxford Impressions stamps: London Telegraph and Jet Black Archival ink. I stamped the lady and gentleman on two squares of cardstock (mine are 10,5 x 10,5 cm) and I glued them to the two lower triangles.
I stamped two little gears on cardstock using Purple Archival ink, I cut them and I glued to the bottom of the card in a way that creates “holds” for the easels.

Mechanical cards - Michelle

Hi everyone,
This week will be all about "mechanical" cards, you know.. those cards that will move/rotate/flip when you open them. And I must say that, once again, the DT did a great job, especially as it's not easy to photograph.
Those cards are nicer when you hold them and see them "in action". Still, they pulled it off once again :)

This week, the DT has based their work on Kathy Byrne's PDF, which you can download HERE.
It is made such a way that you can print it and fold it and you will have a little A5 booket.
Bear in mind though, that these instructions were meant to be used in classes, where you can actually see the project and therefore understand better.
But hopefully, the samples from the DT will help you out a bit.

Let's start with Michelle today and a super cute girly never ending card

Make the base of the card with 4 rectangles (3" x 6") Stamp the images on watercolour paper and colour with distress inks thinned with water. Choose and cut your papers. Ink edges. Glue the papers to the base and decorate with flat embellishments and add some stamped sentiments.

And here I played a bit. Mini never ending cards. 3" x 3". Made from watercolour paper, some drawings and Distress inks.

Materials
Kanban stamp set: Little friend, Big Hugs
Distress inks: Tattered Rose, Worn Lipstick, Rusty Hinge, Brocken China, Peeled Paint, Vintage Photo, Walnut Stain

Letter M winner and Wall of fame

Hi everyone,

Well, what a selection to choose from this week... Those Altered dictionaries/Alpha pieces are turning out to be more beautiful each week. Which means that I really have a hard time selecting 5... As a matter of fact, it was so difficult this week, that you will have 6 to praise :-). I am sure that those who are featured below will be pleased about this.
So we had quite a few masks, mermaids, machines, march (in several languages)...
Well done everyone!

so the winner is...
I wanted to ask my daughter to pick a number as she loves doing this, but she's at school.
So as I am on Skype with Sandy as I type this, I asked her to pick a number
she has picked 19

Mini album week - Isa

Hi,
No Simply Saturday this week as I had so many gorgeous mini albums this week to share with you (and no Clean and Simple ones either), that I though we could skip it for once.
And when you see Isa'sArt's project, I'm sure you will go "wow"!
She upcycled some toilet paper rolls and turned them into a lovely vintage mini album

Flatten the toilet paper rolls
To keep the vintage look, I will leave them as they are, but you could make a bright and fun album by painting them, or covering them up with scrapbooking papers
To bind them, I placed one of my stencils (Tando Sequin Waste) on the paper rolls, traced the circles, punched them out with the Crop-a-Dile and bound the mini album with a thick thread or small cord.
You can then add pages inside and/or tags to decorate your mini album

Sizzix Tim Holtz die: Tiny tabs & tags
SizzixTim Holtz Alterations: On the Edge Die - Sewing edge
Tim Holtz Sizzlits Decorative Strip Alphabet Die - Inside out
Mask Tando Masks: Sequin Waste
Crafty Individuals Stamps  CI-256 - CI-306 - CI-328 - CI-335 - CI-342
Versafine inks: Sepia, Onyx Black
Distress Stains: Black Soot, Antique Linen
